REGARDING THE UPWARD ANGLE OF THE MOUNT:

Being designed primarily for Close Quarter Battle situations, all of our mounts are specifically designed and intended to have a slightly upward angle variation of about 8 to 10 degrees when correctly installed.
This angle is a functional necessity of the design to allow for the correct alignment of the sights to be nearest the center of the light beam at 15 to 20 yards.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 The Perfect Mount For Bipod., 8.19.2021
Reviewer: Thomas C. (, Michigan)

I was looking for a bayonet adaptor to mount my Bipod on my Colt AR15. I did not want to end up mounting it on the front part of the fore stock. I finally found the perfect adaptor produced by Custom Defensive Products. I wanted to make sure that it would fit my firearm so I called and talked with Dan. He was great. Very polite and he answered all of my questions. I ordered the mount with the two QD holes over the phone right there. It arrived two days later. Super fast delivery. Upon opening up the package I was very happy to see the excellent quality of the mount. Complete with mounting instructions. I had it installed in no time and it fits my firearm perfectly. A very solid, very well made mount. The plating is flawless. Very sturdy with the two mounting positions. This mount is GREAT. I ended up ordering a second mount for my other carbine. Same super fast delivery of a very well Made In USA product. I am one very happy camper. Thank you Dan and Custom Defensive Products for taking care of my bipod mount situation.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 CDP BLAM, Finally got it - Worth the Wait, 8.12.2021
Reviewer: J.R. Martin (, TX)

CDP was out of the BLAM for almost 8 months because of the PLANNED-DEMIC. I was on the wait list 6 months but they finally got them made. It was definitely worth the wait. The fit and finish is outstanding and it is easy to see they are making a quality part. It' is a few dollars more than I wanted to spend but the BLAM is exactly what I need for my bipod and Streamlight TLR-1. I have bought 2 of these now and it looks like it is a factory made part on my Colt rifles. Fair shipping on the same day I paid for it and had it 3 days later. A great product!

Reviewer: Stephen Fornelius (Oro Valley, AZ)

I bought the product because my Ruger AR 556 didn't have any good way of mounting a bipod. With my old eyes I need things as steady as possible. It arrived in the mail and I was immediately impressed at the quality and the work that went into making it. Like it says in the instructions, you might have to tap it with a wooden or plastic hammer, but that just means it fits tight with no rattle. The screw that locks it into the QD hole was a perfect fit. All in all, very happy I made the decision to buy it and I like the quality and how it looks mounted.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Product is perfect for an AR light mount, 12.29.2015
Reviewer: BL Grady (, KY)

I purchased two of these mounts, one of the BLAM with rings and one of the BLAM2, without the rings. Both fit perfectly on my rifles and accept a vertical foregrip, several types of lights and a Harris bipod. Flawless, easy installation and very steady, no movement or rattle. The quality is clearly evident when you handle them and also in use on the rifles. I cannot say anything negative about either mount. First class product and 5 stars all the way.

FAQs

Ask a question about this product.

Q: When I mounted the BLAM on my rifle, it is not parallel with the barrel.
It seems to be tilted upward toward the muzzle.
Can I get one that is aligned evenly with the barrel?

A: Being designed primarily for Close Quarter Battle situations, all of our mounts were specifically designed and intended to have a slightly upward angle variation of about 8 to 10 degrees when mounted.
It is a functional necessity of the design to allow for the correct alignment of the sights to be nearest the center of the light beam at 15 to 20 yards.
The angle may vary slightly, depending on the manufacturer of the front sight base casting.
This alignment was tested using the SureFire X200A the X300, Streamlight TLR-1 and TLR-2, and the Insight M3 and M6 Tactical Illuminators.
This incorporated angle also allows for correct centering and zeroing of a laser such as on the Streamlight TLR2 or Insight M6.
If the mount remains parallel with the barrel, ANY laser mounted on the BLAM will not have enough vertical adjustment to easily bring the dot into alignment with the sights.
If it is mounted parallel with the barrel, the light will be too low on the target, below center of mass.
If you insist on having the mount parallel with the barrel, you would need to elongate the holes in the sight base clevis UPWARD, where the rear screw replaces the sling loop.
You might also have to remove material from the base of the sight tower on either side of the clevis, where the mount would contact the base, depending on the manufacturer of the sight tower itself.
When the mounts are attached to the rifle correctly and a light is attached to the mount, one does not typically notice any difference in the alignment.
If you are more concerned about how the mount "LOOKS" on your rifle than the practical functionality of the well planned, affordable design, perhaps the BLAM or BLAM2 is not for you.

Q: I have read on several forums that mounting a light at the 6:00 o'clock position on my AR will cause the light to cast a shadow on the target.
How do you address this concern?

A: Thousands of Law Enforcement Officers and operators who use these, and other mounts at the 6:00 position, will disagree with that statement.

Mounting a weapon light on your AR at the 6:00 o'clock position on the Bayonet Lug is IDEAL for close quarter engagements out to 25 yards.

First, access to the light switch is immediate and right at the position of your support hand on the forearm of the rifle.

Second, the truth is, any shadow cast by a light mounted on a BLAM or BLAM2 will be well above the target and out of your line of vision.

Your ability to FOCUS on the front sight and the target should be developed with proper training and practice.
When you do, you won't see anything but the target.

Third, mounting lights or other items on either side of the sight tower only further obstructs the line of vision covering the target. That is more of a distraction than any shadow.

Also, the size of any shadow depends on the diameter of the beam being cast by the light.

Ideally, you want a powerful, narrow beam with a bright center to illuminate the target.
The wider the beam, the more shadow will be cast.

Your satisfaction is unconditionally guaranteed.

Q: Are the holes in the BLAM designed for the QDS on the Magpul MS4 sling?

A: YES! We actually designed the QD loops on the BLAM and BLAM-R using the specifications of the MAGPUL patented design for the QD Swivel. We also use MAGPUL QD sling swivels to test the final fit prior to bead blasting and hard anodizing the parts.
